A Union County sheriff’s officer is facing a five-count indictment for official misconduct and fraudulent vehicle title filings.
Prosecutors announced that a grand jury returned the indictment against Christopher Wolf, of Budd Lake, on Friday.
The charges follow an investigation conducted by the Union County Prosecutor’s Office Special Prosecution Unit and local police departments.
Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel addressed the case in a press release, calling Wolf’s actions a violation of public trust.
“The integrity of our entire criminal justice system relies on the public’s confidence that those sworn to enforce our laws abide by them with complete honesty,” he said. “When that trust is breached, our office has an unwavering obligation to uphold the rule of law.”
