Four people were taken to the hospital after a dramatic early morning house fire in Cortlandt Manor, including two teenagers in extremely critical condition.

Crews were called to the home on Sherwood Road just after 2:30 a.m. for a reported structure fire with people trapped inside.

Firefighters arrived to find flames venting from the front of the home, making entry through the door impossible.

With reports of children inside, crews quickly raised ladders and entered through second-floor windows to carry out rescues.

Fire officials say a teenage boy and girl were pulled pulseless from the home in extremely critical condition, with CPR started immediately at the scene.

“Two teenagers… came out in serious condition with CPR being administered immediately,” said Fire Chief Thomas Eade.

Officials say both teens suffered severe burns covering about 40 to 50 percent of their bodies.

One of the victims, a 17-year-old female, was stabilized and transported to Westchester Medical Center.

The 15-year-old male victim was still being stabilized at NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital, according to the latest update.

Two other victims, believed to be the teens’ mother and a sibling, were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The family dog perished in the fire.

Firefighters said the rescue effort was complicated by the need to simultaneously perform life-saving care while battling the fire.

“You have to focus on patient care… with cardiac arrest… while still trying to have the firefight in the background,” Eade said.

A firefighter was also treated for exhaustion after what officials described as an intense and demanding rescue.

Fire officials praised the crews’ actions, calling them heroic under extremely dangerous conditions.

The cause of the fire is believed to be electrical in nature but it remains under investigation.
