A Norwalk family is keeping the memory of one of its loved ones alive by helping burn victims.
Back in 2013, a tragic housefire left Matt Ness, his brother Michael, and others badly burned.
Michael Ness, a 2009 graduate of Brien McMahon high school, later died from his injuries.
"Some days it feels like yesterday...some days it feels like an eternity," his brother Matt says. "He was the best, so full of life."
The event raises money for the Connecticut Burn Center at Bridgeport Hospital, the very center that treated Matt, Michael and the others badly burned in the deadly 2013 housefire.
"They're angels on earth doing God's work for sure," Matt Ness says. "The golf tournament has really made it a beacon of healing, of community, playing together and planning something special."
The tournament has helped raise over $100,000 for the burn center since its inception, Ness says.
The money helps with burn care initiatives, helps burn care survivors and more.
"You don't know it's there until you need it," Ness says. "It's the best medical unit in the state. I can say that by far."
This year's tournament will take place on Monday, June 8 at Silvermine Golf Club in Norwalk.
"To bring so many people together for such a good cause," Ness says, "is really all that matters."
