The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office says an arrest has been made in connection to the deaths of two people found at a home on fire in the Town of Wappinger.
The house fire occurred at 78 Marlorville Road, near the intersection with Creek Road at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.
"Once the fire was extinguished, two victims were found inside, both of them were deceased," says Capt. John Watterson, with the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office.
Police say 34-year-old Robert J. Buda was arrested. He is accused of intentionally setting the home on fire.
Buda was charged with arson and was arraigned in court.
He was remanded to the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center in lieu of $500,000 cash bail or $1,000,000 bond.
News 12 has learned that Buda is married to the victims’ daughter.
There is no word right now when he will be back in court.
The identities of the victims have not yet been released.
Anyone with information on this case is urged to contact the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office.
