Turtle Rescue of the Hamptons gives deformed, sick turtle another chance at life

9ds agoTurtle Rescue of the Hamptons (TROTH) says it gave a deformed 70-year-old turtle a new lease on life.
The nonprofit says Bubbles was bought in 1954, a time when it was not widely known how to care for turtles.
It says Bubbles lived on a diet that was not nutritionally appropriate for him and as a result, he developed physical deformities that included a beak that made him look more like a duck.
The turtle was not able to eat, drink or walk on his own when he arrived at the Jamesport nonprofit.
The medical staff at TROTH trimmed Bubbles' beak and nails.
Bubbles was also given medications and physical therapy.
Nearly three months later, the turtle is eating and drinking on his own.
The nonprofit says there is a good chance he will one day walk unassisted.
