A wild weather pattern rolled through the City of Newburgh on Wednesday, toppling a massive tree that crushed a parked car and knocked out power in one neighborhood.
The incident happened around 4 p.m. on Chambers Street, where strong winds uprooted the tree, sending it crashing down across the road. It brought down power lines and blocked traffic for about an hour, according to city officials.
Department of Public Works crews quickly cleared the debris while police redirected traffic and contacted the owner of the damaged vehicle.
Authorities say no one was hurt.
A News 12 viewer sent in photos from the scene, showing the extent of the damage before it was cleaned up.
More severe weather is expected this afternoon and evening across Orange County. Residents are encouraged to stay alert and report storm-related damage or hazards.
