Today is expected to be another tough day to travel. At 5 a.m. flight departures out of Newark Liberty International Airport were reduced by 7 percent.
"We want to get on the plane and get to Florida, said John Maher, of New York. "Already delayed two hours."
Staffing shortages are largely to blame.
Air traffic controllers are still not getting paid and are calling out during the shutdown.
The FAA has EWR listed as a possible ground stop or delay this afternoon
The FAA says the flight reduction is a safety precaution.
