Concerns over battery energy storage systems in Brookhaven will be addressed at a forum in Selden today.
One of those battery energy storage systems is being built on North Ocean Avenue in Patchogue.
Tonight at Suffolk County Community College in Selden there will be a forum held to address concerns and answer questions about the battery systems.
In recent years residents in Brookhaven have voiced concerns about safety implications when it comes to having these battery energy storage systems near neighborhoods and people's homes.
Several of these are being presented to the Town Board by private energy companies, including in Holtsville, Bellport, Yaphank, Shoreham, Patchogue, and East Setauket.
People in the community have attended previous town meetings to learn more and raise their concerns.
The meeting starts at 7 p.m. and runs through 9 p.m. According to the town’s website, they will not be taking live questions but answering questions that residents submitted previously.
