Deer Park homeowners say they woke up early Sunday morning to a car in their living room - not far from where their son was sleeping.
Sheri and Joe Wilkonski were sleeping in their Nicolls Road home when they awoke to a loud crash early Sunday morning.
Joe Wilkonski told News 12 he thought perhaps their cat had knocked something over.
"I opened the bedroom door, looked down the hall, and as my wife was following me, she said, 'What's going on?'"
He explained that there was a car in their living room.
Matthew Troche, 19, was arrested.
The Amityville man is accused of driving while high and authorities say he was in possession of a loaded gun and high-capacity magazine.
Everyone in the home is OK but Joe Wilkonski said their cat gave them a scare.
She was missing for a while until they discovered she'd been hiding in the basement.
Troche was arraigned Monday.
He pleaded not guilty to driving while ability impaired by drugs and weapons charges.
His lawyer declined to speak with News 12. The judge set bail at $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond.
