Broken elevators and mold are just a few of the complaints that renters at 125 W and 195th Street have. Tenants say not being able to get in touch with their landlord is making things even harder.
Daniel, a resident who uses a wheelchair, says he needs access to the elevator because it's too difficult trying to use the stairs.
“I go down the stairs, it is very tiresome, I also have to wear gloves because the stairs are not clean," he says. "There’s usually dog poop everywhere and it’s pretty much a struggle for me.”
The City’s Department of Buildings tells News 12 they were last on the scene on May 27 for a broken elevator. The DOB issued a violation to the landlord and ordered the landlord to make the necessary repairs.
News 12 is told that this is just one of multiple violations issued by the department. News 12 reached out to the landlord for comment and have not heard back.
