        Taking precautions: NYPD steps up security in aftermath of Trump rally shooting

        According to the NYPD, there is no threat or connection to New York City at this time.

        The NYPD security presence is being increased all over New York City - more than 300 miles away from where former President Donald Trump was nearly assassinated on Saturday in Butler, Pennsylvania.
        With tensions continuing to run high nationwide, the NYPD says they're stepping up security at multiple sites around the city. They include Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue, the former president's home. As a precaution, they've added more officers to protect 40 Wall Street, Foley Square and City Hall.
        Mayor Eric Adams addressing New Yorkers during a news conference said "Public safety is the prerequisite to prosperity."
        The mayor said he would continue to work to make New York City the safest "big city" in the country.
