It was the coldest start of the season so far Friday morning as low temperatures got down to 46 degrees.
Plenty of sun and a warmer breeze helped highs reach near-70 degrees during the afternoon.
The breeze will remain Friday night and into Saturday, keeping it not as cold at night. Lows are expected to bottom out near 56 degrees, 10 degrees warmer than Thursday night.
Wall-to-wall sunshine Saturday will raise highs into the mid- to upper-70s, feeling like late summer.
The trend has been toward more warm weather for Sunday, as a storm develops north of the region.
Being on the southern side of the storm could mean another day with high temperatures near 80 degrees.
It will be cloudier and an isolated shower is possible after 3 p.m. through Sunday evening.
Scattered showers are likely on Sunday night and Monday morning during the commute.
Some showers could be on the heavy side. The sun returns after noon and it turns sharply colder and windy. Highs near 65 degrees early in the day will drop through the 50s once the rain ends.
The coldest air of the fall so far will arrive Monday night through Wednesday.
Lows for Tuesday and Wednesday morning will be near 40 degrees feeling like the 30s with the blustery wind Tuesday morning.
A big recovery is expected in one-weeks' time by next Friday, back to near-70. A true rollercoaster in temperatures.
NOTE: New Yorkers will NOT be able to see any aurora or northern lights on Friday night. The rare G4 geomagnetic storm has ended and conditions are only expected to reach G1 tonight. That is nowhere near enough to see aurora.
