Changes are coming to parking in Hoboken after a new ordinance passed last Wednesday at a City Council meeting. There still needs to be a final vote to make it official.
The City of Hoboken said in a statement to News 12, "With several businesses open on Sundays, the updated fees will encourage increased turnover of parking spaces, making it easier for more customers to access local businesses."
The city says 85% of ParkMobile transactions are from non-Hoboken residents.
They also added that due to inflation, they needed to increase parking rates at parking garages for visitors and residents that use them. They say those rates have largely remained unchanged for many years.
The next City Council meeting is Wednesday, Sept. 18.
