WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The rest of the weekend continues to be breezy to windy with more wind expected along the coast.
- The National Weather Service indicates a hazardous weather outlook for Northeastern New Jersey for these winds and the potential for spotty power outages due to the gusts.
- Highest gusts reported so far were Newark at 51 mph, Passaic at 40 mph, Belmar at 39 mph. This made the relatively mild high temperatures (in the high 40s and low 50s) on Saturday feel significantly colder despite much warmer temperatures 24 hours earlier.
- Temperatures for the weekend and the first half of the work week fluctuate throughout the 50s with 40s returning by later in the week.
- Low temperatures mainly in the upper-30s and low-40s are expected through Tuesday morning with colder lows on the way after Wednesday in the low-30s.
- The next rain chance will be late Monday night lingering into Tuesday morning. Based on temperatures, expect mainly rain. There is some likelihood of a late week Thursday (Thanksgiving) or Friday storm. Exact timing still is uncertain but it does look have the potential to make Thanksgiving Day messy. This system could bring the opportunity for rain, mix, and accumulated snow. The News 12 Storm Watch Team will continue to monitor as it gets closer as this is an important timetable for travel and get-togethers.
- Drought conditions linger despite the rain that New Jersey received. Tuesday's rain doesn't look like it will alleviate this much but a decent system late week could aid in getting closer to where New Jersey needs to be precipitation wise. However, it could be messy for holiday activities.
