Most New Jerseyans think beach tag/badge prices are too high, according to a new study by Stockton University.
The study shows that most people in the Garden State think a trip to the beach should be free.
News 12 visited Point Pleasant Beach to see what visitors had to say.
"I don't believe people should pay for beach badges because we pay taxes and that's what maintains everything, and some people are on limited budgets," said Brendan O'Neill.
The study says 65% of New Jersey residents believe it's a public resource which should come at no charge to residents. But 30% said beachgoers should pay for access because it generates revenue for essential resources.
"It helps to create the beach and make the beach better," said Nicole Ramundo.
People from Atlantic, Cape May, Monmouth and Ocean County were all a part of the study.
Some visitors shared that after visiting out-of-state beaches, they've given it a second thought.
"When you go to North Carolina or Florida and it's free, it's kind of hard to believe that we pay," said Joe Kirk.
"I've never had to pay to go to the beach." "The beach should be for everybody. How about people that cant afford it?" said Karina Lopez, who was visiting New Jersey from California.
One thing agreed upon by most is that beach tags are too expensive. The study says only one in five residents believe the prices for beach tags are actually reasonable.
