Preston High School students held a rally this morning before school following the sudden announcement of the high school's closure at the end of the 2024-2025 school year.
Students made their voices heard moments before class.
This news came unexpectedly to students, parents, teachers and alumni.
The school has been around for 75 years. The board of trustees say declining enrollment and financial struggles have played a huge role in this decision. Considerations to put the property on the market also played a role in the decision.
Preston's board says they wanted to purchase it but, after a year and a half of negotiations, it didn't work out.
