A deer that was stranded on the ice of Lake Lillinonah in Brookfield was rescued Sunday.
Firefighters were called to an area of Windwood Road around 9:15 a.m. to assist the Connecticut State Environmental Conservation Police. When crews arrived, the deer began to make its way back to shore.
As crews made their way onto the ice, the deer had made it to the shoreline, but was unable to get up the steep embankment. Firefighters reached and helped the uninjured deer up the embankment.
