And with the snow almost here, cities and towns around the area are hard at work getting ready. News 12 Connecticut's Greg Thompson is in Stamford and joins us now. Greg, those trucks gonna have a long night ahead of them. Yes, they absolutely are. Those trucks and pretty much anyone who's out and about around here like Michelle just said, kind of the calm before the storm right here. They are getting ready in Stamford. Mayor Caroline Simmons has declared a snow emergency and that's going to be in effect until 6 p.m. tomorrow. Like you said, all these trucks, all these plows, everything full of salt behind me getting in formation, getting ready for what you said, what is going to be a very, very long night into the morning here ahead now. You heard that term snow emergency. We've heard it from a few different towns and cities here in the area. So the question is what exactly Does that mean well here in Stamford, it means mainly even though it is a big travel weekend with people trying to bop around after Christmas and trying to get to different places, the city is saying to stay home and try not to be on the roads unless there is no other choice or it's an emergency. Next up, if your car is parked on one of the designated snow emergency streets here in Stamford, you have to move it so the plows can get through. We know a lot of other cities have things like that. So if you're not sure if the street your car is on qualifies, we have a list of all the snow emergency streets over at News12.com. Under numbers and links now luckily to help out the city also has the Bell, Summer and Bedford Street garages all open and free during this entire emergency. We've called back additional personnel to work so that we have enough crews to work. Right now they're out treating the roads and they'll be working through the night and the morning, so we definitely had to increase our personnel, make sure we had our salt and fuel ready to go, so we are prepared for this storm. Now another important part of this, obviously not a time you want to be outside between the cold and everything coming down, so the city does have its warming warming shelters all open throughout the night.
