And here in our borough residents and businesses are preparing for that snow. News twelve's Rob Flax joins us from Bushwick with the latest, Rob. Yes, Lindsay, this is definitely the calm before the storm, but you know what residents here and businesses in Bushwick are taking this storm seriously. Take a look at the street behind me. It is basically all blue with salt, preparing to fight off what could be as much as 8 inches or even more of snow descending on these streets by the end of tonight. Some businesses, they're not even risking staying open. They are closing at 3 and other residents here say. They're trying to get their errands done, walking the dog, getting that grocery shopping done before the snow starts falling down, but some businesses say bring it on, like this grocery store that's breaking out the scaffolding trying to protect the food that usually sits outside of their store, and others say they're just going to have a heavy hand with the salt and, you know, whatever happens happens. Hopefully some hungry customers walk into their doors who want to get out of the cold. Take a listen because it's blocked the vent. And we have heaters inside. It makes a big difference. The business will go down, but we cannot shut down the store. People need groceries, fruit, vegetables. The business will be less, but we will continue. So we'll see how it goes. If we can handle it, we'll stay open. One place we have not seen any salt going down, that is Maria Hernandez Park, and that is an area that is notorious for turning into either a winter wonderland if you love the snow or a total ice rink in the days that follow.
