ALERTS:
There is a COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY for minor coastal flooding through this morning's high tide cycle and this afternoon's high tide cycle for the areas along Barnegat Bay, especially the northern side where southeasterly winds pull the tides into the bay.
There is a WIND ADVISORY in effect for all coastal counties for gusts between 30 and 50 mph today.
FORECAST:
A robust east-southeast wind continues to blow across the state with coastal gusts near 30-50 mph at times today. Inland gusts will be near 20-30 mph at times. The rain is annoying. It is windswept and takes down leaves from the trees making for slippery surfaces. This will last all day.
A line of thunderstorms is likely to arrive between noon and 2 p.m. with downpours and strong gusts. Some of the thunderstorm energy can be aided by the pull of tropical moisture from distant Hurricane Melissa in addition to our storm's cold front.
Rain wraps up shortly after 8 p.m., but the windy weather continues for Halloween.
Friday will be windy day all day, but dry. The sun will poke through some of the clouds, but the clouds will be passing through.
The weekend is great; the winds calm a bit for Saturday and definitely on Sunday. Temperatures are colder in the morning but rebound nicely in the afternoon to the mid-50s under a mostly sunny sky.
