ALERTS: Coastal Flood Advisory for Fairfield County - minor flooding during high tide.
WHAT TO KNOW:
· Showers expected, heavy downpours possible
· Heaviest rain & strongest wind 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
· Dry for Halloween but breezy
FORECAST:
We're tracking a storm that will bring gusty downpours this afternoon. The worst of the rain is expected for the evening commute. There is a risk for minor flooding on a few streets and isolated downed trees from the wind. 1 to 2 inches of rain is expected and winds will gust 30-40 mph.
The worst of the rain and the wind will arrive in batches between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. today with on and off showers likely this morning and later tonight.
For Friday, let's just say it'll be a hallowing Halloween, or rather a "hollowing" Halloween. Although stray showers will end in time for trick-or-treaters, the wind will pick up. Expect temperatures in the mid-50s with wind gusts 20-30 mph through the afternoon. Temperatures will drop into the 40s after sunset with wind chills in the upper 30s for any late Halloween plans.
The weekend looks pleasant. Saturday will be breezy with gusts occasionally reaching 30 mph, but both Saturday and Sunday will feature a nice mix of sun and clouds. High temperatures are in the mid and upper 50s, but morning temperatures will feel like the 30s so dress in layers. This is also the longest weekend of the year. Our clocks will "fall back" 1 hour on Saturday night and our first 4 o'clock hour sunsets of the season will happen on Sunday.
Here's a day-by-day breakdown of our forecast.
TODAY: On and off rain, heavy in the afternoon with wind increasing from the east at 20-30 mph. Highs near 60 degrees.
TONIGHT: Rain and wind early, tapering off into showers by sunrise. Lows in the mid to upper 40s.
FRIDAY: Mostly cloudy. Showers early, then dry and windy. Winds from the west at 10-20 MPH with gusts up to 30mph in the afternoon.
SATURDAY: Mostly sunny and breezy. Highs in the mid to upper 50s.
SUNDAY: Sun and clouds. Frost in spots during the morning. Highs in the mid to upper 50s in the afternoon.
NEXT WEEK: Temperatures will be near seasonable with highs generally in the upper 50s and lows near 40. Monday and Tuesday could reach the 60s, those will be the "picks" of the week!
