I know it seems like May was overly wet, but in reality, we are just a hair over a half-inch of a surplus for the month. That's normal for the month. So why does it feel like it rained every day? Well, because it almost did.
Seventeen of the 27 days featured a trace or more of precipitation collecting in our rain gauges. That's 62% of the month with drizzle or steady rain. Sunshine was certainly limited.
Rain overspreads the state starting tomorrow morning and becomes steadier later in the afternoon. Showers persist into Wednesday night in an on-again, off-again fashion.
By Thursday, the rain has pulled away and we can expect a brief lull in the active pattern. Skies will remain cloudy, but there is an optimistic chance that some sun could try and shine through the overcast. Temperatures for Thursday should be slightly below the average but still comfortable in the low 70s.
Friday starts off cloudy with rain returning late. These showers look to linger and possibly become a little steadier on Saturday.
Sunday cleans up nicely and temperatures will flirt with 80 degrees. Next week warms up fast.
Could we be looking at our first 90-degree day of the year by next Wednesday? That is a month later than last year when we had our first 90-degree day on May 2, 2024.
