Consistent rain began early in the afternoon Sunday. Wind, rain and waves will continue to intensify throughout the overnight and into early Monday. Main threats continue to be widespread moderate-major coastal flooding and damaging wind with gusts between 30-50 mph.
While rain is also a component of this storm and can be heavy at times, the flood concerns are mainly coastal and for any areas with poor drainage.
Waves in the sound and NY harbor are expected to reach up to 10 feet. Also, tides are already higher than normal. Coastal flooding will be the worst during high tide. High tides times for The Bronx are around 5:20 a.m. and 5:40 p.m. Monday. For Brooklyn, high tide times will be around 1:20 a.m. and 1:40 p.m.
The worst of this storm will continue overnight and during the first half of Monday. Rain, wind, and larger than normal waves will last into Tuesday, but we will notice slight improvements beginning late Monday.
