Temperatures reached 90 degrees for the fifth day in New Jersey.
Our sixth heat wave of the season will come to an end on Friday. The winds will move offshore. This marine influence will lower afternoon highs, but will do nothing to buffer us from the humidity. That meteorological variable will stay put. So, it still feels a bit uncomfortable if you are working outside all day.
The weekend will be filled with sunshine. Saturday temperatures will be in the mid- to upper 80s. While Sunday sees the temperatures rise back into the low 90s, both days of the weekend should remain rain/storm-free.
Keeping tabs on Tropical Storm Erin. Soon to be a hurricane late tonight into tomorrow. Most computer guidance steers the hurricane up the East Coast and then, sort of at the last minute, turns it out to sea. Clouds, rain and wind shouldn't be of concern.
However - large swells will be creeping up the coast and the ocean will start getting rough as early as next Tuesday. If you are vacationing at the shore next week, please be extra careful and vigilant around the ocean. The water will be getting rougher as that tropical energy nears.
