STORM WATCH: Another warm day; rain moves in tonight into Wednesday for Brooklyn
4h agoHere’s what you need to know:
- It's mild with a few clouds and a light breeze. Temperatures are in the mid to upper 60s.
- Today will be a rinse and repeat from yesterday but with increasing clouds and noticeably breezy conditions. Highs will be near 80 degrees.
- There are three things that we're monitoring this week:
- A wet Wednesday morning commute. 0.5-0.75" of rainfall will bring some slick travel and low visibility.
- Tumbling temperatures starting tomorrow through the weekend. Highs dropping to the 60s.
- Watching the coast this weekend for a potential storm that can bring rain and wind to the city. We're still several days out and a lot can change with the trajectory with this system. If it stays south, it will be dry, cool and breezy this weekend. If it moves further North, expect periods of heavy rain, flash flooding concerns, wind damage and coastal impacts. Stay tuned for updates!
- As of tonight, rain moves in after midnight through 1 p.m. tomorrow afternoon. Sky conditions improve with a cooler and crisp air settling in by the afternoon.
TRACKING THE TROPICS: There are two tropical waves in the Atlantic and Gulf that have a low to high chance of developing over the next several days. The tropical wave in the Central Tropical Atlantic is likely to become a tropical depression or storm over the next day or two near the Northern Leeward Islands.
Today: Mostly sunny and still warm. Noticeably breezy. Highs near 80.
Tonight: Clouds build and cool. Breezy. Late steady rain, heavy at times. Lows near 61.
Wednesday: Steady morning rain. Moderate to heavy at times. Increasing afternoon sun, much cooler and breezy. Highs near 65. Lows near 49.
Thursday: Brighter, drier and cooler. Highs near 60. Lows near 48.
Friday: Sunny, fall chill and pleasant. Highs near 63. Lows near 51.
Saturday: Mostly sunny, slightly milder and nice. Highs near 67. Lows near 54.
