Connecticut is facing a firefighter recruiting crisis, according to a new report from the state comptroller.
The report says rural areas and volunteer fire departments are getting hit the hardest, and Connecticut firefighters are significantly older than the national average. The comptroller says fire departments should focus on recruiting people in their early 20s who already completed cadet training in their teens and look to recruit more women.
