News 12 took a ride along with the Cortlandt-Peekskill Regional Paramedics.
The organization is a first-of-its-kind standalone paramedic program.
“Most communities don't have adequate numbers of paramedics, so they farm it out to private companies,” says Cortlandt Town Supervisor Richard Becker. “So, we decided to join with the City of Peekskill and do a joint venture between the Town of Cortland…to form our own stand-alone paramedics program.”
The program did just over 7,000 responses last year.
