A Spring Valley family says they are dealing with an ongoing rodent problem inside their apartment at the Sleepy Hollow Gardens on Garrison Drive and believe more needs to be done to address the issue.

Taquayle Adams, who lives in the apartment with his girlfriend and two children, shared videos showing rodents inside different parts of the unit.

"What runs through my mind is, 'Are they sleeping with us?'" Adams said.

He said one of the rodents seen climbed into his son's bed.

"It's like he's just looking at me," Adams said while describing one encounter captured on camera.

According to Adams, the family has experienced water damage from pipe issues twice and has been dealing with rodents since moving into the apartment in November 2025.

He said the situation has taken a toll on him.

"I'm feeling exhausted...honestly, because I don't get much sleep. So my mental health is going down," Adams said.

Adams said management has placed traps in the apartment, but he wants a full extermination effort. He also pointed to areas he believes have not been properly sealed.

"They just don't care. Our things are being lost. And broken and destroyed. And it's sad to have your children live in these conditions," Adams said.

Renaissance Management spoke with News 12 by phone Tuesday afternoon.

"We immediately provided remediation efforts in his apartment. That was with both our onsite service team as well as contracted exterminators," said Austin Roberts, of Renaissance Management.

Roberts said the company is continuing to address issues both inside and outside the apartment and is working to seal potential entry points.

Adams said he has been offered the opportunity to break his lease and is looking for another place to live, but wishes he did not have to move.

News 12 has filed a Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) request with the Rockland County Health Department for inspection records.
