Special Olympics Long Island Spring Games comes to Plainedge

Organizers say the games offer fun and excitement to everyone.

The Special Olympics Long Island Spring Games brought hundreds of athletes, coaches and spectators to Plainedge on Saturday.
The event, hosted by Plainedge Public Schools, featured competitive swimming, powerlifting and tennis games.
Organizers say the games offer fun and excitement to everyone.
"You can expect true competition, determination, great sportsmanship, gold medals, and just a great time,” said Diane Colonna, of Special Olympics New York.
Special Olympics New York has organized similar competitions for over 50 years.
