A local intersection in South Huntington was renamed Pat A. DeRosa Way.
Pat DeRosa was a well-known saxophonist during the Big Band era.
He taught music to local students for close to 30 years and inspired generations of music lovers.
"His legacy will live on. He was just an amazing human being," says his daughter, Patricia DeRosa Padden.
DeRosa performed at former President Richard Nixon's inaugural ball and was recognized by the Guinness World Records as the oldest professional saxophone player in the U.S. until his passing at 101 years old.
