The iconic Bridgeport smokestack will be the inspiration of many artists in a new exhibit at City Lights Gallery.
"Spon to be Gone" will feature paintings, photographs and other renderings of this landmark structure.
United Illuminating placed the plant into service more than a half a century ago. It was originally designed to be fueled with either coal or oil but was converted to a full-time coal-burning unit in 2002.
Bridgeport Harbor Station Unit 3 was the last of Connecticut’s coal-fired generators of electricity. PSEG retired the pant in May of 2021.
