12ds agoSomerset County officials are warning residents to be mindful of venomous snakes in New Jersey.
“Although most snakes in New Jersey are harmless, some snakes can be poisonous,” officials wrote in a statement. Some poisonous snakes in the Garden State include the timber rattlesnake and the northern copperhead.
The Somerset County Department of Health says the residents can take the following precautions to protect themselves against venomous snakes:
- Wear close-toed shoes
- Watch where you walk
- Look before reaching into vegetation or firewood
- Scan the property before letting pets outside.
