With Halloween events kicking off, Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown are already seeing lots of tourism. "They're coming earlier and they're coming from further away, so I'm expecting it to be probably even busier," says Lucia Ballas-Traynor, executive director of the Sleepy Hollow Tarrytown Chamber of Commerce.
Sleepy Hollow is already getting visitors from all over the country. "We go absolutely crazy on Halloween, and we love decorating, so we love this place," says Daphne, whose family traveled from Texas.
But as the season continues and it gets closer to Halloween, the Sleepy Hollow Tarrytown Chamber of Commerce has a message. "Take the train," Ballas-Traynor. "They don't want to be stuck for hours. They don't want to have to abandon their cars."
The Chamber of Commerce says it's important to keep an eye out for traffic delays and road closures for certain events.
Some say they're bracing themselves for the traffic.
"I'm never ready for that," says Tarrytown resident Shirleen Dorman.
But in the end, they're excited for what's to come. "Whatever happens, just enjoy it. It's going to be a lot of fun," says Dorman.
Businesses wait all year for the spooky season. "Our business since the street fair, which was Sept. 21, is up 300% from White Plains," says Alyse Shyne, owner of Cozy Coven. "This time of year is our favorite time of the year, of course, and it's been very busy so far," says Leah Bloom, owner of the Sleepy Hollow Bookshop.
