JOANN Fabrics and Crafts announced a nationwide shutdown of 500 stores, leaving only 300 open.
Six New Jersey locations out of 11 are slated to close. These locations include Deptford, Lawrenceville, Mays Landing, Mount Laurel, Succasunna and Toms River.
The company says that the move is necessary as it navigates the bankruptcy process. JOANN filed last month for the second time in a year.
The company first filed for Chapter 11 in March 2024 but was able to stay afloat after becoming a private company.
The retailer blames the current filing on severe and unexpected inventory issues.
