A multi-vehicle crash involving serious injuries has shut down Interstate 95 southbound in Fairfield as state police investigate.

Connecticut State Police say troopers from Troop G in Bridgeport were notified around 10:35 a.m. Friday of a crash involving multiple vehicles on I-95 southbound near Exit 20.

EMS crews and local firefighters were dispatched to the scene. Authorities report serious injuries have been sustained, though no additional details about the victims or the number of vehicles involved have been released.

State police say the highway has been shut down at Exit 21 as investigators work at the scene.
