Scarsdale man indicted for allegedly beating, stabbing 71-year-old mother to death in family home
A Scarsdale man has been indicted on murder charges in the death of his 71-year-old mother.
Westchester County prosecutors say 27-year-old Chester Green was arraigned Wednesday on one count of second-degree murder and three counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the death of Marian Green.
Authorities allege Green repeatedly beat and stabbed his mother to death with a machete, an axe and a kitchen knife inside their Butler Road home between July 5 and July 7.
Prosecutors say Green was taken into custody at the scene by the Scarsdale Police Department.
Green pleaded not guilty and remains jailed. He is scheduled to return to court Dec. 2.
District Attorney Susan Cacace called the killing a "horrific and senseless act of violence" and said her office is committed to pursuing justice for Marian Green and her family.
