A little bit of magic is hiding in the woods, transforming a simple walk into an adventure in Flemington.
At Tuccamirgan Park, more than 100 handmade fairy houses are scattered along the trail, turning the path into a real-life scavenger hunt.
“The magic of being outside and the thought of fairies is just wonderful for families,” says Susan Soloway, Hunterdon County Commissioner.
The tiny homes are crafted from natural materials like stones, shells and wood, and were created by community members of all ages.
Some are easy to spot, while others are tucked deep into the trees or even hanging from branches.
“I made one… I painted it pink so you could really see it, but others are really hidden,” one participant said.
The display was organized by a local Girl Scout troop and is now a permanent attraction open to the public at no cost.
Officials say the trail is accessible for everyone, including families with strollers or visitors using wheelchairs.
The trail typically takes about 15 minutes to explore, depending on how many fairy houses visitors spot along the way.
Afterward, visitors can continue their day in nearby downtown Flemington, with shops, restaurants and a farmers market adding to the experience.
And with so many hidden details, no two visits are exactly the same.
