A dessert experience is giving visitors a chance to make their own ice cream from scratch in Hoboken.
The classes at Moo Jersey inside the Monroe Center walk participants through the process of creating frozen treats.
Owner Jeff Richman says making ice cream blends creativity with science. “It’s nostalgic, childlike food… but the reality is actually a really complex product,” he said.
Participants learn the basics, including the differences between ice cream, gelato and sorbet.
The class begins with a prepared base before students mix and stir their own flavors.
Choices range from classics like vanilla and chocolate to unique options like ube and blueberry pie.
Once the base is ready, participants add toppings and sauces, from cookie dough to candy.
Each person creates a custom pint before tasting the final product.
Classes are designed for groups, including families, friends, date nights and team-building events.
Organizers say the goal is to create a memorable, hands-on experience.
“We just want to create a special memory,” Richman said.
