If you’re looking for a peaceful place to unwind, there’s a hidden gem blooming in Ringwood.
In this week’s Road Trip Close to Home, News 12’s Amanda Eustice takes viewers to the New Jersey Botanical Garden.
Tucked into the hills of Ringwood, the gardens span nearly 100 acres and are surrounded by more than 1,000 acres of forest inside Ringwood State Park.
Visitors can explore a wide range of themed gardens filled with lilacs, rhododendrons, wildflowers and colorful seasonal blooms.
The site also features the historic Skylands Manor, a 44-room Tudor Revival mansion dating back to the 1920s.
Garden leaders say the property has a unique history, first acquired as New Jersey’s initial Green Acres Project and restored into a public destination.
Guests can take part in guided tours, educational hikes and seasonal programs focused on nature and conservation.
Organizers say the goal is to provide a place for people to relax and reconnect with nature.
“A place of serenity… where people can come and get away from the noise and enjoy some downtime,” said Garden President Tim Flaherty.
Best of all, admission to the botanical garden is free.
