A Ridgefield man is facing assault charges after police said he spit on people during protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Bergen County.
Giancarlo Pontecorvo, 26, allegedly spit in a woman's face before she drove through a crowd of protesters on Fairview Avenue Saturday.
Police said the woman and Pontecorvo argued after he stopped traffic to let the group cross.
Video from the scene shows the driver forcing her way through the crowd, sending one person to the hospital and injuring several others.
