Town of Ramapo police are asking for the public’s help to solve a Rockland County woman’s unsolved murder from nearly five decades ago.
Helen Soudani, a young mother of several children, was found strangled in 1977 inside her family’s restaurant, The Aegean Grotto.
It was located in the former Ramapo Shopping Center on Route 59.
Soudani’s husband, Moutz Soudani, made headlines at the time for a photo reenacting his version of how she may have been killed.
He was arrested last week following a federal indictment in a separate case for allegedly bribing a senior Orange County prosecutor to investigate his nephew for an alleged cryptocurrency theft.
The prosecutor, Stewart Rosenwasser, fatally shot himself following a shootout with FBI at his home, according to several official sources, after resigning in June.
Anyone with information about Helen Soudani’s death is asked to contact the Ramapo Police Department’s Detective Division at 845-357-2400. Anonymous tips can also be sent through the Rockland District Attorney’s Office Tip41 app.
