Police activity sent Blind Brook-Rye Schools into a temporary lockout on Tuesday.
The superintendent told parents that county police were responding to an incident on the parkway.
He added that Rye Brook police advised the district to put the schools in a lockout out of an abundance of caution.
He reiterated that there was no specific threat to the schools or the students.
The now-expired lockout made some parents worry about what was going on.
“I think it’s very prudent of the school to do something of this nature. I think considering the way that times are now in this world [and] in this country, it’s paramount to have our children safe," said parent Michael Leon.
Other parents in the district told News that they were glad to learn that everyone was safe at the schools.
