Neighbors in Chestnut Ridge voiced their frustrations following Monday’s flood, which caused extensive property damage for many residing at the bottom of Ronwood Avenue.
Neighbors say the flooding in the area is usually bad, with many saying they fear rain is in the forecast.
They say it’s due to the combination of a brook overflowing in the community and the street being on a hill.
Neighbors say the brook overflowing specifically flows through multiple properties, causing major flooding and leaving trash and debris scattered on lawns.
Many also say this flood was not the first time, with multiple residents on the street confirming they constantly have water damage on their properties and in their basements.
Neighbors and residents added that Monday’s flood was especially bad.
"It stayed overflowing for about an hour. It depends on how long it rains for and how heavy it rains, but once it overflows, it really gushes across all the properties,” said Chestnut Ridge resident Gabriel Rosin.
Rosin added that even with waterproofing his house, the flooding still managed to leak into portions of his household.
