A public hearing will be held today to discuss a new parking lot near Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital.
As News 12 has reported, the meeting was originally scheduled for earlier this month but was pushed back.
The hospital is asking the Town of Hempstead Board of Appeals for permission to build the new parking lot.
To create the 152-spot parking lot, the hospital will need to knock down 10 residential homes that it owns.
The hospital has already been approved to create an 800-spot parking garage that will be built on the current lot. However, they will need the new lot because construction on the current one would take spots away and would compensate for the loss.
Neighbors in the area worry it will create more traffic.
Neighbors will be able to share their concerns when the hearing on the matter happens at 2 p.m. in Hempstead.
