A local church is expanding its mission to fight food insecurity in the community by launching a brand new food pantry.
Pastor Cecilia Garrett of One Accord Ministry Outreach announced that the pantry, located in the church basement, is being established to support area families facing financial hardships.
"There's such a need for help now," Garrett said, noting that many residents are struggling due to job losses, reduced incomes, illness, and unexpected family hardships.
"One Accord Ministry Outreach is here to help with those needs."
The ministry is inviting community members to support the initiative by donating non-perishable food items.
The food pantry will receive donations every Saturday in the church basement at 2484 East Main Street.
