Prosecutors release recording of call from Franklin Township woman before murder-suicide.

The Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office has taken over the Franklin Township Police Department, citing concerns the case was mishandled.

A woman in Franklin Township contacted police more than two months before she was killed in a murder-suicide, according to the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office, which has now released a recording of her call.
Lauren Semanchik, 33, said her ex-boyfriend had placed recording devices in her home, keyed her car, and continued to harass her. She also noted he was a state trooper and that made her especially uncomfortable.

Semanchik and her boyfriend, Tyler Webb, 29, were later killed by Trooper Ricardo Santos, who then killed himself, according to the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office.
The Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office has taken over the Franklin Township Police Department, citing concerns the case was mishandled. Santos is said to have stalked Semanchik after their breakup last year.
