The man accused of plowing through a Deer Park nail salon and killing four people was arraigned Monday afternoon.
Prosecutors say 64-year-old Steven Schwally had 18 beers the evening before the crash. They say Schwally was still drunk and drove his car into Hawaii Nail & Spa at a high rate of speed on Friday.
In court, prosecutors said prior to the crash, he nearly hit pedestrians near a Kohl's in Deer Park, and accelerated in the opposite lane of traffic before his car went airborne and through the nail salon.
According to court documents, Schwally had bloodshot eyes and his speech was slurred.
Schwally pleaded not guilty to DWI charges and was held on $1 million cash bail or $2 million bond.
