One man was injured in an early morning stabbing in Neptune City, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.
The incident took place in the vicinity of the 200 block of W. Sylvania Avenue on Wednesday morning.
Dawn and Junior Louis, who live nearby, anxiously watched as detectives combed the scene for evidence.
"We live around here. We have friends and family around here," said Dawn Louis. "My grandson just rode his bike from here last night to my house, so we just like to know what's going on and take care of each other."
The area was still blocked off with police tape until a little before 12 p.m. There were up to five evidence markers on the sidewalk and in a nearby driveway. There was also what appeared to be blood on the sidewalk.
"It makes people feel uncomfortable. You feel like you don't want to come outside at all," said Junior Louis. "This town is a really great town. We picked it to live and I really love it. I enjoy walking around during the daytime."
Detectives could be seen interviewing residents and possible witnesses. They were also seen gathering evidence in brown paper bags.
"We don't know who it is. It is kind of making me mad because what are you doing?" said Dawn Louis.
Authorities have not announced if any arrests have been made.
