Village of Larchmont officials say a tractor-trailer driving on Palmer Avenue Tuesday morning took a low-hanging communication line down, causing damage to other utility poles and wires in the area.
Officials say the incident happened around 6 a.m. They say it resulted in multiple damaged utility poles and downed wires on Palmer Avenue between Chatsworth and Larchmont Avenues.
"When we arrived on scene, we found a tractor-trailer that had taken down a communication line, which subsequently took down some electrical lines on the Palmer Avenue side," said Larchmont Fire Chief Richard Valentine.
A utility pole could be seen leaning towards the street, connected to the wire that was struck by the tractor-trailer.
This portion of Palmer Avenue is home to a Starbucks, Citibank and other local stores.
"We were taking a walk over to the Larchmont station and well, it is kind of hard here because this street is closed and there are some shops we would've preferred to go into, but no luck today," said Milana Brown, who is staying in Larchmont on vacation from Germany.
A Con Edison spokesperson said crews are working as quickly and safely as possible to make the necessary repairs.
Police have confirmed there are no reported injuries.
