Does your I-95 commute take you through Darien and Stamford?
You could be sitting in extra traffic this week on top of the usual congestion.
CT DOT will be milling and paving the center lanes of I-95 northbound and southbound between exits 9 and 10 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. every night until at least Saturday.
Transportation officials say the timing is meant to minimize disruptions to the traveling public.
"This is really important work that's happening all across the state," says DOT spokesperson Eva Zymaris. "We understand there are disruptions, but we just want to thank the public for their patience."
Regardless of the timing, commuters still believe the project will add to the traffic problem.
Some say it will cause increased congestion on the local roads in Stamford and Darien as well.
"It needs to start at least at 12 a.m. 7 p.m. is still kind of rush hour a little bit.", says Charles Harper, of Norwalk. Drivers are being urged to stay patient, slow down in and around the work zones, and give themselves extra time to reach their destinations this week.
